What should we really be paying attention to?So it's Sunday and I'm watching all the Sunday shows and it seems that not one of them can ignore the comments by Harry Reid about Barak Obama's race and how it would effect his chances of becoming president. No one seems to be commenting on how this is really OLD news. The president himself would rather move on to more important things. But the mainstream media is fixated. This is what I callUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7720863062900606561.post-88458239700125526872010-01-08T18:04:00.000-08:002010-01-08T18:38:10.251-08:00Maple GingersnapsThese are the cookies I made for my son's recent sleep over. They loved them! Are these really "Miracles"Lately the work miracle has been tossed around quite a bit. First the plane that crashed in New York's Hudson River. Then today I saw a new report on a Police Officer in South Carolina who suffered a heart attack and first declared dead by emergency workers only to have another say she felt a faint pulse and he was actually alive.I believe in God and I think he can perform miracles but how about Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7720863062900606561.post-18566296017120386822008-10-31T18:18:00.000-07:002008-10-31T19:23:02.633-07:00Happy Birthday Mom!Today would have been my Mom's 66th Birthday. So in the hustle and bustle of the Halloween celebrations I pause and think of her a bit.Her favorite cake to have on her Birthday was a chocolate cake with white butter cream icing. She loved to dabble in spells.Just after her cancer arrived my son and I discovered KIVA and introduced the concept to her. I was glad we could have a Chelsea YC table.I thought I should explain my entry in the guest book, which went something like, "A vision of loveliness in white chiffon." The year was 1986. When my Mom got sick my world got a lot out of wack. I had done very well on the South Beach Diet getting my weight down almost 40 pounds! But when my Mom got sick I reverted to my old way. Why not eat that whole container of Ben and Jerry's? Maybe we should all enjoy what we can while we can and worry later? Well that's just fine if you're going to die in 6 Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7720863062900606561.post-79615513056800491182008-08-05T13:33:00.000-07:002008-12-09T05:35:07.554-08:00In July we hosted a memorial celebration of my mom's life. It was a wonderful party held at the Newport Art Museum, upstairs on a stormy Sunday afternoon in July. Friends came from all over. We had framed photos of her up on the fireplace mantels and 3 large photo boards of her filled to overflowing with snapshots. The caterers provided a feast including her favorite chocolate cake with white Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7720863062900606561.post-37103618207760237592008-05-05T10:19:00.000-07:002008-12-09T05:35:08.535-08:00My Mother's Day funk...This is the last picture I have of me with my mother. We are on the beach in the summer of 2007.In past years I enjoyed Mother’s Day. I when I lived in my home town before my son was born I would have all the Mother’s in our family over for a Mother’s Day Brunch. I’d set the table with the good china. There would be flowers and place cards. The food would be heavenly and the dessert decadent.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7720863062900606561.post-9031594450280290652008-05-02T17:16:00.001-07:002008-05-07T16:50:19.514-07:00William Tell Overture A Mom's VersionMother's Day will be soon and I'll post more on that at another time but I just had to share this with you all.
